Looking for a large family holiday villa in Tuscany? How about this one
Booking a family holiday is one thing – we all know the organisation needed to manage everyone’s needs. But sometimes it’s not just you you’re thinking about – sometimes you might fancy adding your sister and her brood. Maybe your parents. Or perhaps your best friend and her family. Finding a large family holiday villa to sleep you all comfortably, provide space to be apart as well as space to be together (and the all-essential pool) is a whole exercise in holiday hunting.
We’re a family of six – just finding properties that are what we need yourselves can be tricky. So when I find amazing holiday properties that are perfect for big family get-togethers, I like to share them here. And honestly? This one’s a beauty. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Tuscany, boasting a garden, a private pool and mountain views, Le Capanne Country Relais & Spa is set in Volterra.
Completely restored in 2015, the property offers luxurious accommodation for up to 22 guests across its nine bedrooms. On the ground floor are three large living areas, each equipped with sofas, satellite TV and dining table. Perfect for individual families to have their own space – or for the generations to separate!
There is also a well equipped kitchen on this floor – with everything you’ll be looking for from ice maker to coffee machine.
The 9 bedrooms are set out over the 2 floors. All have air conditioning, and all are simply and elegantly furnished to ensure your whole family feel relaxed and at ease. The villa has good Wi-Fi throughout (obviously – it’s more important than oxygen levels if you have teens with you), and there’s also Satellite TV and a DVD player.
Downstairs, there is the added bonus of your own private spa. No really. There’s a spa. For you. With jacuzzi, salt room and massage area, all for your own personal use.
Outside, here is also a fantastic swimming pool – not only is it big enough for you al to enjoy, but just take a look at the views from poolside. Glorious.
Set within the extensive gardens is a large dining table, the perfect setting for those large family dinners in the long dusk of an Italian evening.
The villa is located just a few kilometres from the historical centre of Volterra which is about a 10 minute drive away. It is also very close to San Gimignano. Florence, Siena, Pisa and Livorno are all about an hour away by car. The nearest beaches of Cecina, Bibbona and Castiglioncello are just a 35 minute drive.
However, for those prepared to travel a little longer there are some beautiful coastal towns easily accessible from the property which are well worth exploring such as Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Baratti.
Rates for Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne start at €6000 for a week’s rental (that’s just under £670 per bedroom; when you’ve shared that among families that’s an unbelievably good rate for such a fabulous property).
