5 UK Family Travel Bloggers to follow in 2018
It’s January and it’s gloomy, and we’re all sitting here plotting our next escapes, yes? My timeline is filling up with proud excited declarations of “yes! Tickets to New York/Sydney/Jo’berg booked!”
But also, I’m seeing plaintive wails of “where shall we gooo??”
Increasingly people are looking for a little more from their family travels than a couple of weeks package holiday on a beach. Travel is easier than ever, especially so with a family – places I’d never have dreamed of even 10yrs ago I now see fellow bloggers tackling with a toddler. And that’s why I love to
stalk follow other family travel bloggers. My Insta feed is filled with young beautiful adventurers doing exciting beautiful things – and scrolling through them is a perfect way to lose ten minutes of a grey rainy day in an escape of glorious sunshine and amazing places.
But for me, the real inspiration lies in seeing other families actually doing it. I don’t want to know that a free-spirited 23yr old can do a downward-facing dog on the top of that mountain. I want to know if a family of four can even make it to the base, let alone up it!
Seeing Nisbah from Five Adventurers take her family skiing for the first time recently has made me confident that I can take my much older kids. Carrie from Flying with a Baby took her 2 & 5yr olds to a remote area of Thailand – and completely inspired me to expand my thinking a bit more about what genuinely fun travel with kids looks like.
Finding new blogs to follow is always a joy – I treasure blogs which inspire me, and introduce me to new experiences, ways of travelling and extraordinary new sights and sounds along the way. So I’ve picked five of my top suggestions for you to follow this year – watch and see where they can take you!
Zena began her blog in 2014 after having her 2 young daughters. You can read all about her inspiring story here. What is really lovely about Zena’s blog is she is passionate about travel in all its guises. She doesn’t let having a family stop her following her passion for seeing as much of the world as possible and is committed to encouraging her children and others to do the same. Check out her solo trip to Edinburgh or find out all about exploring Hamburg with a 3 year old to help you plan your next adventure. Zena also writes about parenting and lifestyle, so it’s like dipping into a magazine, all you need is a cuppa to go with it.
Charly is an ex-agency Marketing Director with 20 years experience in the marketing industry. She’s worked with numerous travel brands over this time having initially cut her teeth at Virgin. Charly is well travelled, not just in the UK and Europe, but long haul destinations such as New Zealand and the Pacific Islands to the Caribbean, South America and Australia where she lived for two years. Charly launched her first blog (Multi-Award Nominated parent & lifestyle blog PODcast) in 2012, family travel blog POD Travels followed 3 year later. Both are heavily led by photography. With the Doves travels focused on discovery, adventure and exploration, the family particularly relish unusual or off the beaten track destinations. Charly lives in Surrey with her husband and seven year old daughter.

Not wanting to halt her globetrotting adventures when she became a mum, Elizabeth has travelled with her two daughters (now 5 and 1) since they were just a few weeks old. As a journalist, she wanted to combine her love of writing and travel as well as inspire others and help them travel the world with kids in two. The family enjoy seeking out luxury escapes and some of their recent travels have taken them to Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Singapore. Skiing is another passion and they love a road trip, embarking on jaunts to Sweden, France and Italy.
As a London local, expect to find inspiration for days out and tips for exploring the capital. 2018 sees them gearing up for a tour of Mexico as well as trips to Tuscany and France’s Dordogne region. Follow Wander Mum to find out more and get your family travel fix.
